THRIVING COMMUNITIES
HEALTH & NUTRITION
Many crops are grown in remote and rural communities which face high rates of malnutrition. Farmers cannot always grow enough to feed their families and many farming households cannot access the micronutrients needed for normal functioning of the immune system and optimal health. This has a knock-on impact on their productivity and earning potential. Poor nutrition is often also combined with poor health infrastructure and limited access to clean water and sanitation. This can have significant consequences for the health and wellbeing of farming communities.
Nutrition and health are the focus of two of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals – SDG 2 which aims to end hunger by achieving food security and improved nutrition around the world, and SDG 6 which focuses on providing water and sanitations for all. AtSource+ allows customers to track a number of social and health metrics and measure the impact of innovations on the ground, whether that’s the building of boreholes, the refurbishment of local hospitals or the provision of mobile health screenings to farmers and workers.
