This week, the ofi Nuts Team is publishing the first public sustainability targets for its 50,000 acres of almond orchards and farming operations in Australia and the US.
As one of the world's largest almond growers, ofi has long invested in sustainable practices across some of its almond farming operations, like state-of-the-art irrigation and bee-friendly habitats. Now, Almond Trail sets ambitious targets for water stewardship, carbon reduction and support for communities and ecosystems, including a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with achieving a 1.5˚C pathway.
AtSource+ is used to track progress against each of the targets and metrics in the report, from the orchards through the supply chain. For instance, ofi is using innovative technologies to understand and reduce the water footprint of its almonds, which is conveyed to customers on the AtSource+ Plus dashboard. This offers almond customers a new level of transparency and helps to support their own sustainability goals.
